Audits & Priorities for 20 healthcare sites in Somerset

THE PROBLEM:
Two Trusts merged, bringing together creating Somerset NHS Trust with 2 large acute hospitals, and 20 mental health and community sites. Navigating to unfamiliar sites across a wide geographical area was hard for patients, visitors and staff. Following negative patient feedback about unclear signs we were commissioned to identify the problems, report findings and prioritise solutions.

WHAT WE DID: We undertook 20 site audits in 6 days. Led a stakeholder workshop to understand the problems. Analysed patient feedback data, met with the Healthcare Environment Design Group, Art & Design Manager, Inclusivity Lead, and Director of Redevelopment, presented findings, action plans, recommendations and prioritises to senior executive team.

OUTCOMES: Full wayfinding report with priorities for every site. Action Plan with brief for Wayfinding and Sign Design Strategy ready for the next project stage.
