THE PROBLEM: The hospital has beautiful Victorian buildings and new buildings squeezed onto a complex compact city centre site, making the layout confusing to navigate. Site users speak over 100 languages with some unable to understand English. Signs are out-of-date and inconsistent. Internal connections, way outs, the lower ground floor restaurant and toilets are all difficult to find.

WHAT WE DID: Site audits, site user workshops, staff engagement events, liaised with Estates, Arts, Charities, and Patient Experience team. Presented findings, strategy and actions plan.

DELIVERABLES: Audit report. Co-developed Wayfinding Strategy with local young people. Naming and Colour-coding recommendations. Corridor and destination identification ideas. Simplified site map.
